Miami’s Art Scene Expands in Key Biscayne This May
Debuting this May, The Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne, Miami will be hosting its inaugural “The Art of Arts Series,” a rotational celebration of art featuring three distinct artists from Brazil, Montreal and Key Biscayne curated by Beauty & Brawn, a Chicago-based art curation company,
and sponsored by various spirit brands from Edrington, Taittinger and Russian Standard Vodka. From May 3-24, the resort will become a common ground and platform for an illustrator rooted in Quantum Physics, a mixed-media artist and a photographer to share their work and spread their affinity for art in their respective mediums.
The series will kick off with Brazilian artist Fernando Chamarelli, known for his unique geometric visual design that is based on Quantum Physics,
String Theory and The Multiverse that simultaneously incorporates different cultures within each masterpiece. The surreal world he creates with each piece of art allows civilizations from the past, present and future to coexist and generate the message that everything is ultimately connected.
Chamarelli will debut his work throughout the property from May 3-9, launching at The Art of Mexico: Cinco de Mayo event on May 4, sponsored by Partida Tequila. He will debut a special, Mexican-inspired piece, created in honor of this event.
The series will transition to French-born and Montreal-based artist Mathieu Bories from May 10-16. Bories’ stunning tapestries and paintings will take over the resort with their intriguing images and patterns.
Bories’ humanistic approach urges viewers to reconnect with fundamental inspirations and bridge back to romanticism, often erased by today’s contemporary society. He weaves traditional patterns, ornaments, symbols and forgotten images into his artwork.
On May 12, Bories will lead “The Art of Arts Workshop” where guests can learn to stencil their own work of art while tasting the best of Taittinger Champagnes and Rosé wines.
Local photographer Kiko Ricote will culminate the series. Ricote grew up on the island of Key Biscayne and will showcase photography ranging from daily life on the island to exotic places around the world from his travels.
Ricote is known to carefully frame and capture photos to evoke real emotion and showcase the authentic beauty of each object or place. Guests will have the opportunity to learn from the best in several photography workshops throughout Ricote’s week in residency from May 17-24, sponsored by Russian Standard Vodka.
“We feel art is not only beautiful, but an important way for people to share their stories and allow those from different cultures to connect,” says General Manager Mark Ferland.
“We hope to enrich the experience for guests and locals alike by working with Curators Lindsey Meyers and Simone Garcia of Beauty & Brawn to showcase these artists and their artwork from around the world.”
Throughout the month of May, guests will have the opportunity to interact with each artist through the following workshops and events, curated by Beauty & Brawn.
