Opening in July 2025, Suyian Lodge is a new chapter for &Beyond and a model for sustainable luxury tourism in Africa
Set against the backdrop of Kenya’s Laikipia region, &Beyond’s Suyian Lodge is a significant leap in luxury travel and conservation. In partnership with global conservation charity Space for Giants, &Beyond has secured an exclusive tourism concession over the sprawling 44,000-acre Suyian Conservancy.
The Suyian Lodge wilderness experience will be unmatched when it opens in July 2025, according to &Beyond. Luxurious tented camps, sky beds and mobile camping are designed to blend seamlessly with the natural landscape with glorious views of Mount Kenya.
“Our expansion into Laikipia is the culmination of a long-held desire to increase our impact and lodge operating footprint in Kenya. Laikipia is a prime wilderness area home to a greater wildlife population than anywhere else in Kenya outside of the Masai Mara. This includes globally threatened mammals that make it particularly important from a conservation perspective,” said Joss Kent, &Beyond CEO and Executive Chairman.
“Representing a critical piece of the Kenyan circuit, it offers a world-class game experience and aligns with many of our ambitious impact objectives in terms of securing and protecting endangered wildlife and habitat ecosystems and enabling conservation through empowered communities,” he added.
Suyian’s diverse ecosystems range from savanna and grasslands to dense woodland, making it a haven for wildlife enthusiasts hoping to glimpse rare melanistic leopards and African wild dogs, elephants, buffalo, lions, and cheetahs.
Travellers can join walking and camel safaris, scenic flights, or fishing trips and experience the local Samburu and Pokot culture. Conservation and research initiatives offer a chance to contribute to this vital ecosystem’s stewardship.
Easily accessed from Nairobi, Suyian is also a gateway to more remote adventures, such as helicopter safaris and visits to Kenya’s Northern Frontier, including Samburu, the Matthews Range and the Endoto Range, Lake Turkana and the fabled Suguta Valley.
Beyond its wildlife and luxury offerings, Suyian Lodge is deeply committed to sustainability. Eco-friendly practices like limited cattle ranching and rotational grazing enhance soil health and biodiversity and support the economic development of neighbouring communities while paving the way for a more sustainable future in tourism.
