The opulent Shangri-La Suite is the result of an ongoing, multi-year transformation of the luxury hotel
Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong has revealed its latest room renovation after a multi-year transformation for the hotel: The Shangri-La Suite. The 222-square-metre two-bedroom suite appears to be the very definition of luxury, with an oversized apartment-style layout, opulent finishings and panoramic views of Victoria Harbour.
The design showcases layers of neutral tones with pops of colour, warm textures and patterns and handcrafted furniture pieces alongside fine art. According to a spokesperson for the hotel, every detail has been meticulously curated, from hand-tufted rugs and woven wall coverings to opulent hand-blown crystal chandeliers. Special lighting, ceiling-mounted audio-visual speakers and reconfigurable furniture ensure total flexibility for the space, allowing it to cater to various types of events.
Guests of the Shangri-La Suite are welcomed into an elegant foyer adorned with richly veined marble, woven wallpaper, and sage green lacquer. The suite’s picture windows offer sweeping views of Victoria Harbour and the city’s landmarks, while the sitting room and bar features an eight-metre-long landscape mural, modern takes on ancient Chinese paintings, and luxurious furnishings.
The dining room, a whimsical space inspired by Hong Kong’s tropical landscape, boasts woven and embroidered fabrics, a solid marble table seating ten, and French hand-blown crystal chandeliers. The suite also includes a state-of-the-art entertainment system, a separate kitchen with Siemens appliances, and a fully stocked wine cellar.
The master bedroom, with its delicate landscape mural, has been designed to be an intimate sanctuary for relaxation, with the ensuite featuring veined dark marble, twin rainforest showers, a heated bench and a dramatic oversized bathtub with views of the harbour.
Guests of The Shangri-La Suite enjoy exclusive services, including a dedicated butler, a Pillow Menu, Sleep Ritual Gong Bath, and Aromatherapy service. Michelin-starred Executive Chef Uwe Opocensky is available for in-suite dining experiences, and the suite’s private wine cellar offers selections curated by the hotel’s sommelier.
“We are incredibly proud to launch The Shangri-La Suite as the next step in our multi-year transformation of Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong,” stated Clifford Weiner, General Manager of Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong. “This is a bold maximalist space that is distinctly contemporary; its interiors are infused with worldly panache as well as Shangri-La’s renowned Asian hospitality – creating the perfect setting for a memorable stay, event or a celebration in the heart of Hong Kong.”
The new suite follows the unveiling of the reimagined 45th floor of Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong earlier this year, which now offers 21 fantastical themed rooms and suites designed to appeal to families.
