VP Kamala Harris Makes Her Presidential Candidate Debut Wearing New Chloé
She opted for a muted, well-tailored set from the French label for the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
On the first night of the 2024 Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Vice President Kamala Harris became officially and ceremonially the party’s nominee for President of the United States. For the occasion, she stuck to her preferred look: classic suiting — this time, though, by Chemena Kamali‘s Chloé.
This camel suit fell in line with others she’s worn in the past, with its muted color, padded shoulders and loose-fit trousers. Underneath, she wore a cream, tie-neck blouse, also from the French fashion house. On the lapel of her two-button jacket, she flaunted an America flag pin — a common and sartorial way politicians prove their patriotism — in gold.
While it’s curious she chose a French fashion brand for her debut as the Democratic party’s nominee for the highest office in the country, there’s a pre-existing relationship there: Harris wore a custom Chloé gown designed by Kamali for a White House State Dinner in May. Still, this outfit is just one more display of the Vice President’s sophisticated and low-key wardrobe that embodies a sense of authority.
